CASE TRACKING

When an invoice becomes a case

Some jobs end in small claims. Track the matter from intake through to collection — the steps, the court dates, what each one cost, and a judgment that keeps accruing interest — beside the invoice it came from.

THE STAGES

Every step you add belongs to a stage, so a case reads as a position rather than a pile of notes. Each step is pending, in progress, done or skipped.

WHAT IT HOLDS

01

The case record, not a folder

Case number, court, judge, who is plaintiff and who is defendant, which side you are on, and the filing date — held as fields rather than scattered across a document folder.

02

A workflow that matches how these actually run

Steps are grouped by stage — intake, pre-filing, filing, service, discovery, negotiation, hearing, judgment, enforcement, collection — so you can see where a matter has reached instead of reading the whole history to find out.

03

Every step carries its own cost

Filing fees, service of process, copies. Each step holds what it cost, so when you are entitled to recover costs you have the figure rather than an estimate.

04

A judgment that keeps counting

Record the judgment amount and its interest rate and SUITE accrues the interest for you. What you are owed today is a number you can read, not one you recalculate by hand.

05

Notes stay private

Case notes are encrypted at rest, so working notes on a live dispute are not sitting in plain text next to your invoices.

06

Six case types, one place

General, civil, small claims, debt collection, family law and criminal defence — the module is not limited to collections, though that is what most service businesses use it for.

HONEST LIMITS

SUITE does not give legal advice, file anything on your behalf, or connect to a court system. It is a record and a workflow for a case you are already running, so the dates, costs and figures are in one place when you or your attorney need them.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Is this practice-management software for a law firm?

No, and it is not pretending to be. There is no billing by the hour, no client trust accounting and no matter intake for third parties. It is built for a business tracking its own case.

What is it actually for, then?

The most common use is an unpaid invoice that became a small-claims filing. You already have the invoice in SUITE; this is where the recovery of it lives.

Does it calculate what I am owed?

It accrues interest on a recorded judgment at the rate you set, and it totals the costs you logged against each step. It does not give legal advice or file anything for you.

Can my team see it?

Access follows the same permission and location rules as the rest of SUITE, so a case is visible to the people you have granted access to and not to everyone with a login.
